Technology, programming and robotics, 2nd of ESO

This school year the students of Technology, programming and robotics from 2nd of ESO have started the subject learning about the project approach, how to face a technological project following some steps, and how to use algorithms to reach a solution. Then, they had the opportunity to use this concepts doing some practicals of Scratch, a programming resource that they started learning the last year in 1st of ESO.

After this we started a new unit called Internet, security and responsability. This is a real important one, since nowadays a proper knowledge of how the Internet works, the risks that exist and how to avoid them is a must. We are still working on it! See you soon with more updates!

Technology, programming and robotics, 1st of ESO

Hi all!

I will tell you a bit about what we have been doing so far in Technology, programming and robotics in 1st of ESO.
During the first days of the school year we had some general information about the subject, what it consists of, the different topics that we will cover and we had a short approach to the method to develop any technological project.

After this small introduction we started with Scratch, an easy program to learn programming language through games. We are still working on it and the students are enjoying it a lot! They learn by doing nine practicals to cover  the different options the program has. They even practice at home trying new combinations and options. It is really creative and fun!

We will keep informing! :)

English Language Assistant 2018-2019

Hi everyone!

I'm Danielle, one of the English Language Assistants this year. This is my second year working at SIES Luis de Góngora, so I wanted to share a quick introduction for those who haven't met me.

I'm originally from San Francisco, California and have been living in Madrid for about a year now. I have a passion for languages and teaching, and am very excited to be working with the students again this year! The majority of subjects that I teach are English, Biology, and Technology.

Outside of teaching, you can usually find me running (in the picture on the left, I completed my first half marathon in San Francisco). I also love cooking and experimenting with new kinds of food. I'm currently on the hunt for a good cocido recipe :)

I look forward to getting to know everyone as the year progresses. Feel free to post a comment below and say hello!

A Greeting from Corinne Speckert

Meet Corinne Speckert

Hello all!

My name is Corinne Speckert, and I'm one of the Language Assistants at IES de Cañada for the 2018-19 school year.

This is an introductory post for students' and their parents so you can learn more about me.

I come from a small beach town called Santa Cruz that's located near San Francisco, California.

I have my degree in journalism, and a minor in Spanish - but, my Spanish-speaking skills are lacking (to say the least).

To prepare for my current position as a Language Assistant, I obtained my ESL (English as a Second Language) Certificate through the County of Santa Cruz. I also taught Spanish to a class of senior citizens for nine months through the nonprofit organization Grey Bears.

The subjects I'm assisting in at IES de Cañada are History and Geography, Geology and Biology, and - of course - English :)

It's a privilege to work with the students at IES de Cañada, and I'll be posting updates to this blog as the school year progresses.

Cheers,
Corinne

From the Orient

Good Day Parents, Teachers and Students,

Today I would like to introduce you to a person, named Carlo Matthew Dawana, who came from a country in South East Asia called the Philippines. He is a graduate of the course Digital Filmmaking in the De La Salle - College of St. Benilde in Metro Manila. During his free time he likes to read light Chinese fantasy novels, swimming and taking pictures of nature.
This is his first year as the teacher's assistant in the SIES Luis de Góngora, and he is ready to help the students with their english communication.

Let me show you Carlo and where he came from through the pictures below:
