Happy new year!
During this term, our students of the first year of E.S.O. have been
studying materials and their properties. Wood and paper are good
examples of usual materials, so they have been taught how to made a Christmas tree
using recycled magazines. This year has been the fourth time we do this
activity and I have chosen this one as an example:

TED talks
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan: "Ideas Worth Spreading". TED events are held throughout North America and in Europe and Asia.
They address a wide range of topics within the research and practice of science and culture, often through storytelling. The speakers are given a maximum of 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can.
TED was founded in 1984 and, since June 2006, the talks have been offered for free viewing online, through www.TED.com. Also, you will always find five recent conferences on the right side of this blog (and do not forget that you can activate the subtitles).

Human body, Electricity and Electronics

How It's Made
"How It's Made" is a
documentary television series. It shows how
common, everyday items (including foodstuffs like bubblegum,
industrial products such as engines, musical instruments such as
guitars, and sporting goods such as snowboards) are manufactured.
There is a Youtube
channel about it. We strongly recommend you to visit it and watch as
many videos as you can. You will learn a lot of things about
technology and your vocabulary will become wider.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2016
During this term, our students of the first year of E.S.O. have been studying materials and their properties. Posters about countries around the world
Our students have made some posters to show the wide diversity of climates, ecosystems and buildings around the world. Three subjects have been involved: Natural Science, Social Science and Technology.

Mobile apps for education
Although not yet as ubiquitous yet as conventional computer programs, countless mobile apps have made their way into the classrooms. There are even companies that help schools and educators create their own mobile apps customized to meet explicit needs or achieve specific objectives.
One of them is App Inventor for Android, that is a free web application provided by Google. It uses a graphical interface which allows users to drag-and-drop visual objects to create an application that can run on Android devices.
Using it, I have programmed one Android app to help students to revise the vocabulary related to tools (and it would be easy to modify it to add new vocabulary) You can download and install it on your android mobile. Just click here.

Glogster
Glogster is a social network that allows users to create free interactive posters, or Glogs. A "Glog", short for "graphics blog", is an interactive multimedia image. It looks like a poster, but readers can interact with the content. You can design interactive posters. You can insert text, images, photos, audio (MP3), videos, special effects and other elements into your glogs to generate a multimedia online creation.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
During this term, our students of the first year of E.S.O. have been studying materials and now they know how to use them. They have made some Christmas trees and decoration using recycled paper and other materials, like plastic glasses. All of them are beautiful, as you can see in the pictures below:
